Welcome to Tinos
Tinos, is a beautiful, authentic island in the Cyclades archipelago. Peaceful island of forty whitewashed villages found in hidden bays, on terraced hillsides and atop misty mountains; all can be easily accessed either by car or by using the footpaths if you are a fan of trekking. More than 1500 catholic and orthodox churches and monasteries, with intense cultural activity are scattered all around the island, creating a real treasure worth discovering, while the island is also widely known for the miraculous icon of Virgin Mary, which is kept in the Church of Panagia Evagelistria in the main town. There is a strong artistic tradition in Tinos – as homeland of great Greek sculptors and painters – while cultural events are organized during the year such as concerts, exhibitions, museum displays, art seminars (pottery, marble art, and basketry) and festivals.
It is the ideal island for thematic holidays, as it offers a great variety of exciting activities, such as, swimming, diving, windsurfing, surfing, cruising, fishing, horse riding and more that will keep you pleasantly busy whilst discovering the island.
Enjoy sunshine and swimming in the azure waters of the many sandy beaches found all around Tinos Island. Some beaches are organized with sun beds, umbrellas and a beach bar, whilst others are completely unspoiled.
Situated in the heart of Cyclades, it’s easy to take daily excursions to the nearby islands; Mykonos, Syros, Paros, Andros, Koufonisi or Delos, which is one of the most significant archaeological parks of Greece.
Tinos is an island for those who appreciate the old ways and lifestyle of the islanders, the authentic picturesque villages that one hopes to find on a Greek island, the crystal clear water and the simple Greek cuisine, food made from local produce – cheeses, honey, vegetables, wine – which is some of the best you will find in Greece.
