Welcome to Naxos
Naxos is the most fertile island of Cyclades, full of gardens, vineyards and orchards. Steep ravines, venetian buildings and many historical sites captivate the visitor in every corner.
Naxos is the largest island of Cyclades. North of the port is the huge marble “Portara” that overlooks the port. It was built in 522 BC and they say it was the entrance of the temple of Apollo that was never finished.
On the hill, the inner walls of the castle protect 19 venetian houses that belonged to venetian dukes that governed Naxos for three and a half centuries.
The best sandy beaches are situated outside Chora, on the west coast. Naxos is renowned for her potatoes, excellent cheeses and wines.
